My name is Casey. I am a military veteran who has been in an abusive marriage for the last 22 years. After years of trying to force and/wait for a change to happen and seeing the mental effects it has had on my children, I decided it is time for me to be the change I was so desperately wanting from my soon to be ex-husband. After being on the local housing authority waitlist for the past 2 years, I was approved for a housing voucher. As of February 1, 2024 I was approved for a home but I cannot afford the $1545 deposit needed to sign my lease and get keys. If I do not get into housing by 1 March 2024 my housing voucher will expire. However I will homeless before I go back to the abuse I have suffered for my entire adulthood nor will I subject my children to it.
