My husband is a US Army veteran that did two tours in Iraq. We are both in our 40s, and have yet to own our own home. Right now, we are living in a house that is literally falling apart. The floor is sloped in every room, and the wall is sepeeating from the floor. I am afraid it will collapse. Thankfully, we have found a Schuber Mitchell Cottage Home and put $1,000 down, but we need to at least cover closing cost of the $124,999 home. That, by the way, is the least expensive home we could find that will not need major repairs. Construction should be complete by April or May.
There is also a great need for furniture that includes a lift recliner, refrigerator, washer, dryer, and bedroom furniture. Additionally, a ramp in the back will be required. Modification of the bathroom and doorways will have to be completed ASAP, because I am going to require surgery.
The following is a more detailed account of some of our medical issues and trials: Shortly after finishing my college degree, my husband and I got married. I began my career at the local community college, while my husband worked on obtaining a certification in welding. A curveball came when the defect in my heart that was causing SVT-AVRNT needed surgery. However, we both thought that our dreams would continue as planned after the healing process was complete. Yet, my medical issues continued. First, I was diagnosed with MCTD and Sjorgens. The next diagnosis was severe spinal issues -including my entire spine. Other diagnosis include DDD, osteoarthritis, stomach ulcer, tarsal tunnel, TMJ, and PTSD. I continued working despite those problems, as well as an appendectomy and a fecal transplant for C-diff. Eventually, the time came when I could not continue.
My husband suffers from depression and PTSD, yet he works full time at Ennis Inc. as a foil operator and die-cutter. His hands and wrist are swollen from the work that he does, and it causes him significant pain. I am proud of him for working so hard, yet I also feel guilt for not being able to contribute as much as I feel I should be able to.
Note: The attached photo is of the add for the house we reserved and are praying we can close on when the time comes. If needed, I can send more documents about the house or health issues.
