There’s no harm in asking…
I am a hard-working 28 year old single female professional from the South West UK, who, although I am trying and have been trying incredibly hard to save money needed for a deposit on a house it is fast becoming a pipe dream.
Yes, in my younger years I frittered on credit. I have completely changed how I spend, and am encouraging others to do the same and am now successful at budgeting in order to pay debt and save. (No thanks to the banks who keep offering me the thousands upon thousands of pounds of credit – no I don’t want it!) It seems that most of my peers have been able to purchase property due to the generosity of family or friends. Unfortunately I have no one in a financial position to help me in such a way.
I will be debt free by May2016 and my intention was to also have enough money to attempt to get a mortgage as well.
I will have some money, yes. But the way the current climate is changing unfortunately I will need a number more years, which as a woman my age those years are crucial. By that point I was hoping to have different options, such as begin a family etc. Right now I live in shared accommodation with other female professionals in a similar position, with a car that barely functions! I have been with my current employer for 8 years and have moved up the ranks, it is not the best paid job by any means. But I continue to enjoy it and how many people can say that? I volunteer my time with GirlGuiding, and have done for nearly 10 years and I give regularly to aid charities; also I love to go charity shop hopping so I am definitely one for giving back. Please don’t think me too selfish.
I realise that there are much worse hardships in the world than not being able to get on the property ladder and it is almost shameful I am asking strangers to contribute to my personal aims.
However, I’ve seen a lot of success stories and if you don’t ask you don’t get, right?
Any donation to my cause would be so appreciated, I am not relying on the generosity of wealthy strangers, but it would certainly go a long way to helping. I know you have to take a bit of a punt with these pleas, so hopefully I have been frank enough for you to see I’m a genuine girl with a genuine purpose.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this and feel free to send me any contribution – it really would be amazing :)
