Cutting to the chase, my family and I have spent 2 decades relocating to wherever Uncle Sam sent us. We managed to settle down in central California, only for me to have to move yet again without them. Now overseas, I have lost the second job I was using to make ends meet. I cannot keep up with the mortgage and the bills and taxes while I’m out of the country. I’m afraid of losing the home we just found. I’m afraid of having made my lovely wife wait so long to have a real home, only to lose everything so soon.
I need $7,000. It’s difficult to ask, but this is where I am. After 21 years military service, I got one last assignment. Now I’m far from home, from my family, and from any real chance to take care of this myself. We had it planned out. We were doing fine and only had to hold out another year until I retired from the military and took on a new job. But we didn’t make it that far. Now I’ve hit a wall since I can’t work in South Korea. Our expenses are all chopped to the bone. There’s no cable or satellite, no stops at Starbucks. Just the essentials. Food, gas for the little Toyota, utilities. Like so many, we were one incident away from disaster, and then the orders dropped.
Over the years, we’ve donated time and money to so many causes. I even gifted cars to the new airmen when I was leaving duty stations. They were $500 cars, but still. And we’ve spent over $21,000 over the years, just flying back for weddings, funerals and family events. It’s not an easy life, but it is one we are proud to have lived.
Today, I hope and pray that all that good karma will help us out a little. Today, I hope you can find a moment and a few bucks to help me weather this storm. I’ve devoted my life to protecting our country and our allies. My family has devoted their lives to making the world a better place, both in the United States and abroad. Please take a moment to consider $5, or maybe even more, to give me a break from another hour of online surveys. I ask no money for my service, I volunteered already. I only want some help keeping my promises to my family.
Thank you for getting this far. Please know, I genuinely appreciate it.
