Hello, My name is Melanie and I am 59 and in need of help paying off my house. I just lost my husband on January 8, 2017 who was 57. He was on disability and was on hospice since April of 2016. We had lived together for 16 years. Finally got married on October 21, 2016. His now ex-wife would not give him a divorce. I live in a state where the injured party, her, gets what she wants and you pay for everything or just stay married. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer this past year and so she needed to get on Medicaid and could only do it if she wasn’t married. Hence the divorce now. Anyway, tried to collect survivor benefits and social security office told me I had to be married to my husband at least 9 months to receive and my state does not recognize common law marriage. So now I will not be getting any of his money. Since 2000 I took care of my mom she died in 2014 took care of my husband with copd starting in 2006 he died 2017 and took care of my dad starting in 2010 and he died in 2012. So since I have not worked for money since 2000 I am not eligible for disability from social security. So now I have a house that I owe $42,000.00 and I don’t know how I am going to pay for it. I only get $1,000.00 a month and my house payment which includes an escrow is $587.00 a month. Just had to pay $6,000.00 for my husbands funeral. Also have credit card debit but I want my house!! I have lived here 23 years and don’t want to lose it. So if just 10,000 people each donated $4.00 to my cause of paying off my house I will have my house so that I can die here too. All of the above people were in this house when they passed. SO PLEASE HELP ME! YOUR DONATIONS WILL FOREVER BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
