Mortgage Help/Alzheimer’s

Hello, I am asking for help with mortgage payments. We are currently very behind and I am worried about losing everything. My husband has always been the provider for our family, while I stayed home raising our children. Five years ago, my husband was laid off work unexpectedly. He was unable to find employment thereafter, and we found out the reason why was because he was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. Our family is devastated. As a homemaker, I do not have any marketable skills that would earn me above minimum wage, and I can’t leave my husband for long periods of time to go to work. I take care of our granddaughter during the week, and 81 year old mother, who also lives with us.

My husband was struck with early onset Alzheimer’s at 62. He is now in the moderate stage of his disease. I am terrified of what the future holds and how we will be able to stay in the home he has known all these years. I do not want to move somewhere that he does not know the surroundings. Right now, he is still able to take walks around our neighborhood. He is not allowed to drive, and has lost most ability to accomplish even small tasks. The disability he is receiving is only covering 1/2 of our mortgage, and none of our other bills and living expenses.

It feels like I suddenly have the weight of the world on my shoulders, and I have no idea what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.
