Looking for help with mortgage

Hello,

I’m sure this story is all too common considering the past year and a half. My wife and I moved into a new home with our two children in December 2019, shortly before the pandemic hit. We were both fairly new at our respective jobs, having only been there a couple years. My wife was lucky since she was a teacher, and didn’t lose her job. I wasn’t as lucky. I work in an engineering field but our customers dropped most of our contracts due to covid and staff got cut. I was faced with a decision, either lose my job or face a substantial pay cut. I took the pay cut as the thought of not having a job at all was terrifying since we now had a fresh mortgage to pay.

Anyone who is a teacher or is married to a teacher knows that sometimes the summer can be rough financially. My wife didn’t have an option to receive paychecks over the summer, and even with the best budgeting July and August were always tight, so she would very often take on as much summer school or other activities offered by her district to make up the difference. Due to covid, she hasn’t been able to do that last year or this year, which was yet another hit to our income.

We were able to manage for a while, but me going from making nearly 50% more than my wife to making less than her was just not sustainable to keep our house. I started taking on small jobs where I could but it just hasn’t been enough. We ended up burning through pretty much all our savings but finally had some light at the end of the tunnel. My work was going to start upping salaries again as contracts had almost returned to pre-pandemic levels. That won’t start until September, so I’m just trying to find some way to hold us over until then when we should be good.

If anyone has the heart to spare whatever you can to help out, I cannot possibly express how grateful I would be. The past year and a half has been incredibly difficult for the whole world, and I’m looking forward to the near future where it seems like things might finally be a little more normal. We just need a few hundred dollars, but I can’t find any other work to make that up and I’m not allowed to take on any more overtime, so I’m here. Even if you don’t have the ability or desire to help, thank you for taking the time to read this.
