Thank you for viewing my request. I would like to share my story with you. The litigations of my divorce from a marriage of 19 years and 10 months, have lingered for nearly 8 years. It was inevitable and I had to file Bankruptcy Chapter 13 (still paying debts and attorney fees), to save my homestead for me and my three children. My former spouse had abandoned us and left me with his financial obligations, that had been ongoing from his first marriage. The absence of my formal spouse’s income has affected me and the children in numerous ways. In addition, my home has been damaged from hail and water leaks that I repaired, but set me back further to keep up with utilities, mortgage, divorce attorney fees, student loans, medical bills, and more. Presently, I am experiencing financial hardship and I have exhausted all of my resources. I have been for a few years, visiting food pantries from churches and requested assistance from local non-profit organizations. I was working 2 jobs which one was PRN (to earn extra to catch up with bills) and the other was full time. I was overwhelmed, but I planned to keep going until I completed the bankruptcy plan which I need to complete in 26 more months. Unfortunately, the unexpected happened and I lost my full-time job in January 2023. I have been diligently seeking for a job that would pay a good salary to keep up with all my bills, but nothing has surfaced. We had purchased our home in January of 2008 and ever since I had created many fortunate and fond memories with my family and friends. In my home, I had hosted birthdays, graduations, baby showers, Tupperware, and even a wedding in November 2022. I can not even conceive the idea of losing my precious home and all of my investment in repairing or remodeling my home (solely on my income). My kitchen still needs repairs from the sink pipes that had busted and caused water damage. The bathroom upstairs pipes leaked and dripped to my closet downstairs. The most important goal for me, is to be able to pay off the bankruptcy so I can keep my home. I had modified the plan to buy me time, because the monthly bill was too high. The attorney informed me that I had exceeded my limits and the bill will rise in October 2023. That frightens me, because that means if I cannot pay, they will Foreclose my home. I am committed to not give up and have faith that a miracle will happen for me and my children. Thank you all for your help and may you receive in return seven times more!
Respectfully,
Edith
I am requesting a goal for the dollar amount of $75,000 to pay off the debts and save our home.
