Home Construction

Hello! My name is Kristin. Me and my husband got married, searched and searched for a piece of land to buy, and set out on our dream to build a house. A little backstory, my husband works as a maintenance man, and I work for the utility company. We make fairly decent money. I figured the sum total of all of our bills, determine what we would need to pay off before we began building a house, and went to work on getting that debt down. My husband and I paid off our credit cards, And we were able to pay off My Husbands truck thank God! Eventually, we found a track of land that was 24 acres. That track of land was in the same small town where we currently lived. We purchased that land and I’m still paying on it now. Once we had the land, we were ready to find a contractor and begin building our dream home. We thought we were about to begin an exciting part of our lives, but we found out it was about to be a miserable long journey. We hired a contractor back in October 2020. Not long after, Covid swept the land and the price of lumber shot through the roof. So not only were we facing a material price increase, we also hired a contractor Who we would later find out did not have our best intentions at heart. Per the contract that we signed to be or our house, we were supposed to be in our house in six months. After the six month period, I would begin paying a mortgage payment. here it is going on two years later and I am still not in my house. It looks just like the picture below except that we do finally have brick skirting around the foundation. This has been a miserable, miserable journey. We ended up having to fire our contractor and search for a new one. It was not easy finding a contractor to come in behind someone else’s work, but thank God we finally found someone and we are making progress. The stress of this house has been overwhelming. It was not easy finding a contractor to come in behind someone else’s work, but thank God we finally found someone and we are making progress. The stress of this house has been overwhelming. As the months would go on and my contractor would not work, and then in the process of finding a new contractor, my floor system in the house continually got rained on and now we have mold in an under our brand new home.My Husband and I Have accumulated so much extra debt that we had not planned for. Not only am I paying a mortgage payment on a home that I do not live in, I have had to pay out of pocket close to $20,000 on extra lumber to finish the framing of my home that my original Contractor did not do. On top of the $20,000 out of pocket, I have drained my 401(k). We also have a $35,000 loan taken out to help us finish building this house. The Bible says you have not because you ask not which is why I am writing this today. I have two kids and would love some financial relief. I would love to have $230,000 to pay off my mortgage loan, $35,000 to pay off the personal loan we took out to help finish building the house, and $24,000 to pay off my car. this may seem like a lot of money to some, but for others probably not. This is a shot in the dark, but like I said before the Bible says you have not because you asked not. Life is so short and I would love to not go through it burden down with more debt than I ever imagined getting myself into. Life has a way of throwing you curveballs. One day when I have the extra money and the income as many wealthy people do, I myself will pay it forward. I can’t even believe that I am writing this today, but hey it’s worth a shot. I would love to take that money, pay off all of my debt, and move forward with my life. I would love to be able to save some money and put it out for my children that way when they are older and married and ready to build a house out on their own, I could help them. If someone on here would read this message and be so kind and generous as to help me get out of this debt, I would be forever grateful and I would most definitely pay it forward. Thank you and God bless!
