Okay so this is a bit of a last resort! As I can’t think of anything else, although any advice would be appreciated just as much as money!
I left a job with Bupa in April and started in another healthcare job. It is an agency and can only offer shifts as and when available.
Last year, I had to take extended sick leave from work as I had to go in for surgery (twice) and there was a lot of healing time. The sick pay wasn’t nearly enough to cover bills and I took a loan out.
Back to now – I have been working for the agency for a few months. I have been getting very few shifts, some weeks I get none at all! Not one shift. My partner already works 70+ hours a week in a kitchen and can’t do anymore.
I feel absolutely hopeless at the moment, as not only do I have a loan payment coming out in a few days! I have other bills/direct debits that I can’t afford to pay. It’s extremely upsetting and it’s affecting my mental health, which I already have issues with.
My partner has already been paying all of our mortgage payments alone and I feel incredibly guilty about it!
I have applied for countless other jobs and will just have to keep my fingers crossed, I was also told that during the lead up to Christmas, the agency wouldn’t have as many shifts to offer, so can only hope it’s a dry spell and things will improve!
To anyone that can help, whether it’s money or advice, I really appreciate it.
I do have a small business on Etsy selling painted rocks! I don’t really make sales (4 in a year) but I’d be happy to send you some as a thank you for your generosity.
