A Veteran asking for help

This is very difficult for me.  For my entire life, I’ve never had to ask for assistance from anyone.  Up until 2014, my wife and I always had good paying jobs.  We weren’t wealthy by any stretch of the meaning, but we were always comfortable and were able to pay the bills.  Then due to downsizing at my work, I was forced to retire.  The money coming in was less, but our finances were still manageable.  In March of 2016 I had the forth and last of my joint replacements.  I already had both hips and one knee replaced.  Six weeks after my last knee replacement, I had a heart attack.  This was a setback, but my wife was employed so money was tight because of medical bills, but we kept things going.  Then in October of the same year, my wife was diagnosed with throat cancer.  She wound up having radiation treatments five days a week for seven weeks.  This put us back even further.  She still had her job, but I was forced to go on Social Security Disability.

Then last year tragedy struck again.  My oldest daughter became ill and was unable to work.  Her husband, a roofer by trade, was only able to work odd jobs due to a fall where he was severely injured and had to have his left leg amputated.  Needless to say, even though my wife and I were struggling, My daughter and her husband were unable to keep a roof over their heads and that of their six children.  They wound up moving in with us.  My daughter went through a battery of tests and they finally discovered a twelve pound tumor in her abdomen which they finally removed a few months ago.  Since they moved in, our utilities more than doubled in cost and so did our food budget.  We get occasional assistance from the local food bank, but they are getting fewer donations lately and can’t always help us.  We are behind on our mortgage, we are barely keeping the utilities on and the creditors are ringing our telephone off the hook.

My main concern is the children.  Keeping a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs is our main concern.  My wife and I have sold everything we have of value just to make sure these children are taken care of.  We even do without some of our medications at times so the children can have what they need.  We are asking for any donation that can help keep us going until we can get back on our feet.  Anything will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
