Hi, my name is Addison and I was in the United States Marine Corps. I am 23 years old and in a lot of trouble. I was injured while serving, but the VA refuses to pay anything for service related injuries. Currently I am about $40,000 in medical debt and have lost my job due to my medical issues. I have nerve damage in my back and in my sciatic nerve, and because of this it is hard to walk, sleep, or even stand for long periods of time. I am on the brink of being evicted from my apartment if I can not come up with money, and my car will be repossessed as well. I have thought about ending it all multiple times due to all of this and am in dire need of help.
I was never really taught about money growing up, or in school, and in the military they stress how much you need to do things and not sit on base all day. So I listed to what everybody told me and because of that I only had a little bit of money saved up. I have used pretty much all of my resources trying to avoid becoming homeless but I am almost there. I have about $87 left in my account and currently have no source of income at all. I honestly don’t know what else to do besides ask strangers for help. This is the lowest I have ever been, and I don’t think I will make it further if I can not get help.
I served from early 2014 up until late 2017 when I was administratively separated. My leadership at the end of my enlistment hated me because of my injury and because of that, they made it to where I would not get a medical discharge giving me money monthly. I have tried applying for disability and trying to dispute my case with the VA multiple times but nobody is willing to help, because my military paperwork does not say medical discharge.
And to whoever is reading this and willing to help, thank you so much. I honestly am relying on your kindness to survive right now. Currently I am looking for a job that would fit my needs medically, but in my area there are not a lot of jobs that fit that. These donations would also help me to potentially move to an area that I could find a job to better fit my needs, Thank you again if you made it to the end.
