First off, thank you for reading this message. I know that your time is very important to you. We are very humble people. We have overcome a lot because we never quit and we still are not quitting. This time however we are reaching out to others that are capable of lending a hand. We understand that there are others that are in our same situation and we have helped those people. So we know what it is like on both sides of the table and it takes a lot to give. One thing I want you to know is that we are worth it as we are good people.. .
Some of my words may not make sense due to my Stroke and my Wife is helping a bit. so I hope you can make sense of what I am saying. I for one am a person that is very happy, very social, very caring and loving. I am always looking out for everyone.We barely make rent, pay medical bills, meds, groceries etc. Also, due to my disability my wife is doing all the work.
So, back on November 14 2020 I had a stroke. I couldn’t say anything, including my name and I lost feeling on my right side. My lovely Wife took me to the Hospital because we did not know what was wrong. Well, they decided to rush me to the HospitalCode-3 (lights and sirens) because they didn’t have the equipment to support me for Dialysis and they knew I would be admitted for a while..
Sorry But i have to go back for a bit. So Before this happened back in 2016 I was rushed to Renown Hospital after I lost total kidney function after my Wife said so we have to know what’s going on with me. I never did drugs or even drink and was always an outdoor person. Also, I am the kind of person that also keeps working when very tired and weak in my case. I had 3 surgeries that night (Fistula surgery, Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Catheter and Temporary Hemo Catheter) which took 4 hours with 2 transfusions. I spent the 2 weeks recovering in the Hospital until my numbers got better. When I was released I spent 2 months getting my strength back and basically learning to walk again. During that time I also spent 3 weeks a day on Hemodialysis then at the same time was getting training on how to do Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) at home.By the way my wife was with me everyday. Right now I am on dialysis for 12 hours every night.
Then in 2019 was diagnosed with a vascular issue.I lost feeling on my right foot due to blood. I had v where once again but on social disability and once again my lovely Wife was there for me.I spent another year learning to walk again but since I have no feeling on my foot. I have to find another way to work.
The Stroke happened. Like I said earlier I couldn’t talk or say my name. My wife was there everyday but she could be there until after 3;00 PM due to the Covid. I was there for less than 3 days because there were not enough beds.I couldn’t say my name and my Wife’s name. In fact when I was at the Hospital I called her for her help to remind me how to say my name and hers. They said that I had a clot which broke up that reached my brain. The whole right side of my body is affected. Right now I’m using a walker and cane. Today I can now drive and doing my best to work out. I actually was just given a guitar to help me exercise my hands.
After I was home finally I started to get Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy and occupational therapy. My wife is me helping shower among other things. I’m still using a walker but having to use it less. My speech is doing so much better and in fact everyone is saying that they have never seen someone improve so quickly. Everyday I have been seeing different doctors. Just this week I started BiPAP Machine because they found out that I have stopped breathing at night. They think that is part of the cause of my Stroke. And thanks to my Wife for making me see all these Doctors.My Wife has been having problems too. Right now she has RA rheumatoid arthritis and takes numerous medications with one is a methotrexate (same medication used for Cancer patients)
So again I am not a good person going around asking for money, just help and the only reason why we don’t have credit cards or getting a home loan is because we had issues with me being on disability, my Wife taking time off to take care of me and appointments and also the medical bills. So, we racked up a lot of debt because of it all. Another thing is both of our vehicles are not going to do well in the winter and need a lot of work.
I am asking for any help to find a way to move out. This area is a very snowy area and I can’t shovel or snow blow the driveway or walkway. I just don’t know how much longer we have to live here. We are full of medical bills and on disability .We can’t move to an apartment and need space for all of my medical supplies. I have a big rig that delivers medical equipment and supplies to this house we rent. We have been here for close to 20 years. It’s so expensive to live here and there is no way to buy a house or move. I am trying to find a way but I can’t work or do anything. We relocated here for my job and made decent money but ended up being stuck here. I never thought I would go onto Disability. I’m not a person that would ask for anything and then I said to myself for the people I help they never asked for help. I just did it then I said why not ask for help even if it makes me feel embarrassed but I have to swallow my pride and take a chance to ask for help.
I forgot to mention that my Wife’s occupation working has dropped the additional monthly $150 living along with rural health reimbursement. In addition we are looking to put money back into my kidney transplant fund. My wife may be entering disability herself which means we will need to get Secondary health insurance coverage because my medicare doesn’t cover my Dialysis treatment and will not cover my kidney transplant which is separate for the kidney transplant fund which will be for medications after the surgery and travel/hotel expenses
We can’t afford to be stuck here with no way to move into a house and can’t be in an apartment. Need a house because I need space for my medical supplies and equipment ($7,500 to move plus first and last deposit for house) The other reason to move is because I lost my ability to work twice which also means ability to shovel snow or snow blow. Both of our vehicles need desperate repairs and tires. We need transportation to my dialysis team and other appointments which are 2-3 days a week ($4,000+ for tires and repairs). We used $15,000 of my Kidney fund toward vehicle repairs, medical expenses (including Ambulance x2 numerous Hospital stays). That also includes my Wife’s Medical expenses which we are still paying due to her toes injury and RA. We need to pay back our debt which was caused due to our medical issues by going to disability $17,000+. If we can get that paid off we can qualify for our own home where we can live a quality life together. We have always been there for everyone and helped people all of our life. Only we asking for and we will be very gracious is requesting help of 5,000 towards catching up with my medical bills, putting some money back to my kidney fund and towards moving.
With all of our heart and soul we thank you for very very very much. I can’t say how much this would be a lot over and beyond thank you.
