I should start by saying what a hole I have dug for myself. I have suffered from low back pain since my teens. I have battled my weight in determination to stay healthy and mobile. My worst fear is becoming my mother. I didn’t and don’t want to be disabled in my 20s or now. I am 32 years old and have been diagnosed with a sequestered herniated disc and osteoarthritis. Symptoms include severe left leg pain from irritated nerves. The pain has pretty much been debilitating. I was able to see a spine surgeon and get an MRI done with bill money I had in the bank.
My spine surgeon suggested surgery as my best choice. A herniated disc fragment has migrated down my spinal cord and needs to be removed. Conservative treatment may help temporarily but the continuing pressure on my nerve may cause damage and the result being loss of feeling in my left leg for good.
Surgeon’s cost $3609 plus surgical center and anesthesia. Which may run me another $3000.
I am at my last resort and trying to utilize all options available. I am a surgical technician who’s employer provides the worst insurance available. My reason for staying is my boss. He is amazing. He has been kind even allowing me to work from home so I can keep paying bills. I recently took out another installment loan to help with my medical bills. With all the loans I have taken out I barely have enough to pay for my rent. My bank account is currently at $130. I took out a loan of $1000 to put towards my medical bills. Then after all is said I will be so far behind I will probably have my lights and water turned off.
I am praying that this works. I am begging that I am blessed with a some financial help. I am drowning in bills and pain.
