My dad, Randy, has always been known as a man you can rely on. He is the most giving person to his family and community. He has been at every game, event and choir concert for my six brothers, sister and I no matter what. He volunteered during the Flint wanted crisis and so, so much more.
On June 14th, my families world was completely turned upside down.
While on a business trip, my Dad was was walking across a street and was hit by a car. He sustained many serious injuries, including over 60 breaks/fractures to his right leg, multiple breaks in his left leg, breaks in his right wrist, right elbow, and a cracked rib. He has been through two surgeries with more to come.
I cannot even begin to describe the heartbreaking feeling I felt the first time I walked into the hospital room and saw the man with never ending positivity and strength so fragile and vulnerable, both physically and mentally.
He is finally back in Michigan being treating at a rehabilitation center and awaiting his other surgeries. We found out that the woman who hit him only had the minimal auto coverage and therefore we won’t be able to get and sort of settlement to help with medical bills and living expenses for the next 6 months to a year.
A gofundme page was started to to help with all the expenses, but I wanted to do something more since I have been feeling so helpless.
I want my dad to feel like he doesn’t have to worry about anything other than getting better and walking again.
I am begging from the bottom of my heart to help bring some positive to someone who has touched so many lives.
