My name is Alexander, I am 27 years old.
Two years ago, my father died. Doctors made a terrible diagnosis – cancer of the tongue and lower jaw. At the first stage of treatment, the doctors advised radiotherapy, but the doctors missed the location of the tumor. Precious time was hopelessly lost. My father was getting worse every day and we accepted the doctors’ offer to promptly remove the tongue and lower jaw. For the sake of his treatment, we had to sell the only apartment and get into debt. Cancer progressed very quickly, after surgery to remove the lower jaw and tongue metastases appeared in the lymph nodes of the neck. After the operation, my father lived for six months.
After the death of my father, I remained the only working member of the family. My mother, grandmother and debts for the treatment of my father at $ 45,000 remained on my provision.
I have a bachelor’s degree in biochemical technology. He began his career in the regional department of Coca-Cola as a quality control chemist. Two years later, he moved to work as a technology developer in a large pharmaceutical company. My work is related to the development of new drugs. During the work, I have developed two new drugs: lozenges with an antibiotic.
Due to constant contact with especially hazardous substances, I started to have serious health problems. Gradually, the lungs, heart and gastrointestinal tract began to fail. Since March 2019, I have been constantly undergoing examinations and cannot fully work. November 6, 2019 I had a cholecystectomy. My employer refuses to endure my health difficulties and forced me to quit. My operation was difficult, the bile ducts were blocked. Doctors say that I can never eat like the rest of the people. Until the end of my life I will have to eat only mashed food so as not to completely unload the pancreas and liver.
The treatment is delayed; my body is destroyed by exposure to hazardous substances. I am in severe depression, but I can’t stop my suffering because I can’t abandon my mother and grandmother. My grandmother who ate her husband and all of her children will not survive the loss of a grandson.
There is a chance that eventually I will be able to return to my usual way of life and work, but this requires time for rehabilitation and continued treatment.
