Please save my family.
This is new to me, to my family. It’s hard to know where to begin or exactly how this works. In spite of the overwhelming stress and lack of hope I feel, I also have a strong feeling of gratitude. If you are reading this, you must be someone just simply looking to help others. That is extraordinary and your selfless acts will undoubtedly change people’s lives. If nothing else, know that I am grateful for the time you give reading this and for your desire to help those in need. Bless you.
It is the greatest joy in my life to be a husband and a father. Simultaneously, it is also frightening and an enormous weight to carry when true adversity strikes. Two years ago my family and I set out for a life changing new adventure and moved across the country not knowing exactly what would unfold before us. We did not know a single person in our new community but we knew we had found home. My wife and beautiful children immediately felt a sense of peace, belonging and even inspiration with this new start. What a relief. Nothing makes me happier than the smiles and laughter of my family.
Shortly after this move we were inspired to open a new business and put all of our efforts into serving our new community. After months of research and due diligence we found the perfect fit for my skillsets and our primary goal to incorporate service into our professional lives. Life was good and my family was thriving.
In that same timeframe we had more opportunity for advocacy work and volunteering. We have a philanthropic passion to end slavery around the world and I have dedicated every free moment of my life to this cause. I serve as a statewide volunteer leader for one of the largest anti-slavery organizations in the world and it has been the most rewarding work I have ever dreamed of. I wish I could continue spending my life saving the lives of strangers.
This upward trajectory of the amazing life my family was experiencing began to shift dramatically a little over one year ago. My incredible wife began experiencing horrific and unrelenting health issues. Suddenly, she was no longer able to consistently care for our children or completely take care of herself. On the bad days she couldn’t do any of it at all. The bad days far outnumber the good days now.
After more than a year of investigation, doctors’ visits, dozens of “specialists” and any so called remedy suggested we are left with too few answers. We know what some of the issues are but not enough to formulate a plan of attack any doctor can agree on. The only consensus from our local doctors seems to be that this is completely out of their depth. It is now recommended we go to the Mayo Clinic to see their specialists and seek proper treatment. Meanwhile, my wife lives in agony and life unravels around us. My children want to know why mommy is in bed all the time and always in pain. We all want to know.
With me having to spend most of my time taking care of my wife and young children our new business has been crippled. Our bank accounts and all our reserves have been completely depleted. Our family is now in crisis and rapidly losing hope. Our closest friends have selflessly given us what they can so we may eat and keep our electricity on but this is not sustainable. Shockingly, we have found the wealthy people we know too afraid to part with any of their excess to save a family so desperately in need.
I now look to the kindness and generosity of strangers, pleading for help. Above all I want to get my wife the help she needs. I need to work so I can provide for my family. I need to pay off our debt so we aren’t choking on credit card bills, medical bills and completely destroying any future our children might have. I need to pay for the medical care she needs which means going out of state to the Mayo Clinic and our insurance will not pay for a dime. Our health insurance only provides coverage in our state.
We are now $43,000 in debt. We have very little income due to me being a fulltime caregiver. I need to pay someone to help my wife while I work and hopefully salvage our business. I need to raise money to travel to Minnesota for a one week stay at Mayo. I need to raise money to pay for those doctors since I have not help from the insurance we have paid thousands for. My prayer, my hope, my plea is that somehow we can raise $70,000 to make this happen.
I have nothing left. Nowhere to turn. Please help.
