Hello, my name is Katherine. My husband, Kenneth, became disabled due to severe neuropathy in both arms and legs (thanks to diabetes) along with a myriad of other medical conditions that have made his life miserable. He currently has $34,894.19 in medical expenses and counting with every doctor visit and treatment. We’d like to move to a warmer climate in the near future due to Kenneth’s illnesses. His physician told us it could help his breathing and possibly his pain management. At this time, it is impossible for us to relocate with all of his medical expenses. He’s always dreamed of owning a house in the country, but he knows that cannot possibly happen in his current situation, most likely never.
All he talks about is how he’s let down his family by becoming disabled. He says we shouldn’t have to suffer because of his disabilities. Our children and I do our best to let him know it isn’t his fault, but he insists that it is. Depression has a strong hold on him so the kids and I are constantly concerned about his well-being. We truly believe he has lost his will to live due to all of the stress his illnesses and medical expenses have placed on him. We know how tough life can be so it was difficult for us to ask for handouts from people, but we’re desperate at this point. We’re so sorry.
Here’s Kenneth’s story…
Kenneth was forced to quit his job due to his health conditions. He assumed that he’d be able to return to work in no time once his condition improved. Unfortunately, his condition only continued to deteriorate until it became obvious that he was never going to be able to work again as he has since become wheelchair-bound and dependent upon an oxygen tank.
Kenneth has filed for disability, but the process takes a while. His disability attorney told us it could be up to 18 months before he receives a hearing date with the judge. Without insurance, his medical bills have been piling up. We’ve requested assistance in every way possible with little success. Negotiations on his bills haven’t gone in his favor either.
This is a last resort effort to help Kenneth be able to enjoy life again. Eliminating or greatly reducing his outstanding medical bills would lift so much weight from his shoulders and mind.
I realize that I’m asking for a miracle, but he’s worth it. Even the strongest person can be eaten alive by desperation. I believe that’s Kenneth’s state at this point.
Every penny of any donations received would be greatly appreciated and would go towards his outstanding medical bills and nothing else. I promise this isn’t some type of scam. If you cannot make a donation, I completely understand. It’s tough out there. I want to sincerely thank you for taking time to read Kenneth’s story.
