Shall we start with the TL;DR version?
TL:DR- Got foreclosed after the COVID umbrella; have been fighting my way uphill since. And everything has been pushing me back, been living in cheap hotels to try to save and get ahead, but have no way to catch up; let alone save.
And now for the nitty gritty~
Prior to COVID the warehouse I had been working for got an out of state tax break and shut down to move it’s location. So I ended up landing a part-time retail job to bring in enough to pay some bills. I would fluctuate from part time to full time hours, at the then minimum wage in MA. Shortly after starting the job in October, we entered the pandemic and hours started dropping. Then in March we faced the shut down.
Due to the situation of having lost my job prior to the shutdown I had a ‘recent’ unemployment claim which caused endless hassles when submitting a new claim. I was stuck during the pandemic for the entity of the lockdown unable to claim any payment because of red tape and run arounds. During this we were relying on my father and grandmother’s income alone.
Well prior to the shut down in Feb of 2020 my grandmother ended up hospitalized, so on top of dealing with the looming hammer of homelessness I had to figure out her expenses for her housing unit and medical bills. So now I am budgeting two houses and moving expenses. She remained hospitalized until the lockdown started letting up in May, after a series of medication mix ups. They kept changing the medications, and she is still to this day suffering the after effects and I am still taking her to endless doctors to figure out the cause of her decline. At the end of October 2022 she was formally diagnosed with Dementia, and they are doing more tests to see if the series of seizures she suffered during her second hospitalization in 2021 due to medical negligence had a hand in it. So more medical expenses.
Currently on the most stable hotel after being ousted in 2020, my father and I have been moving between hotels leaving our belongings in storage, friend’s possession and even my grandmother’s housing unit. We’ve even stayed there in her living room for the allotted two week visitation a few times.
My father is visually impaired, my grandmother is unable to drive and my anxiety has barred me from getting my license. So transportation, phone, storage, hotel, medical expenses and other utilities. The list of medical bills keeps growing despite my best efforts to keep them, the cheapest hotel rate just bumped up, to no surprise the prices of everything is going up.
My family has always had trouble asking for help, but I somehow found my way here… after being out of work this year with COVID I completely lost what little buffer I had trying to catch up with IOUs and bills before I lose my hotel, my storage and my grandmothers medications do to high dues.
If you have a little extra we would appreciate it greatly; Every little bit helps… Currently I’ve fallen behind over 4k in bills and IOUS, not including the ambulance bills of almost 9k… Currently for the hotel I have to come up with another 300 in 2 nights or risk being asked to leave with no where to go again….
