First of all, thank you for even clicking on my post. To start things off, I am an 18 year old girl who has been suffering from very severe mental health issues since I was 7. My main diagnoses are Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Depression. All of these things combined make it extremely hard for me to live my life to the fullest.
I was not fully diagnosed until I was 15, so I did not receive therapeutic help until then and my problems had become even worse. I have been through all sorts of therapy (talk, CBT, DBT, ERP) and have also been a part of a Partial Hospitalization Program in an effort to make a change in my life. As much as these things seemed to help at the time (the last round of it was 2 years ago), my anxiety is at an all time high and I honestly cannot function properly. Not only does it effect my everyday life, it effects my family and friends.
I decided to look into different types of therapy in my area to see what exactly could help for my specific situation, and found a Husband-Wife duo who has seemed to help a lot of people with similar issues to mine. It is not talk therapy or CBT, so it is not just going back to something I have already tried. This therapy goes to the root of the issue and aims to pull it out to help change it. The only problem is, none of the sessions are covered by insurance since it is a private practice, and in the past my medical insurance has helped to cover almost everything. I am currently in between jobs and my family is unable to help me to pay for these sessions, which I have been told that there is no set amount of sessions so I don’t have an exact number as to how much I will be spending long term.
I have had a few sessions already, using credit to pay for them, and it has already proved helpful. I am very hopeful for this treatment, as it is my last hope at living a happy and healthy life (something that I truly have wanted for a very long time) but I am afraid I will have to cut it short if I do not have the money to pay back my debt or for sessions in the future.
So far, I have put around $400 into sessions, but I am almost certain I will end up at at least $1,500 by the time I’m ready to stop treatment, and I don’t have the means right now to obtain that money. I have multiple job interviews coming up, but none of the jobs are high paying enough and do not offer enough hours to make ends meet. My mom and grandma would love to help me, they are the only family I really have and also who I live with, but they have their own bills to pay and none of us make enough currently to pay for this on top of everything else.
I really don’t want to ask for much, literally anything would help. But for perspective, again I will probably be spending at least $1,500.
Thank you again for even just looking at my post and taking the time to read. I appreciate all people who are willing to help others when they can, even if it isn’t me.
I hope the life you are living is happy and healthy, and I hope soon I will be able to do the same.
