In 2021 during Covid we found out my mother had Alzheimer’s and a brain tumor. She needed care and we searched for months. I moved up from Texas to Washington DC , thinking that it would be a temporary situation . As soon as I arrived ,within 2 weeks I was served divorce papers , a big surprise. I lost everything even the car I finished paying for. The first 2 years my family helped me to adjust emotionally and financially , and still help me. Now my mother is slowly dying and it seems that help is not what it use to be . I have medicaid but it does not cover my asthma medication Dulera. It is the only asthma medicine that helps me breathe while I sleep. It cost between 340-360 depending on the pharmacy. The cheaper inhalers only last for a couple of hours and I wake up gasping. The pharmaceutical company has my life in their hands. Very few people I know understand this. I am allergic to most of the trees and flora in this area which makes my asthma worse.
My mother is ok financially. My sister is in charge of everything that concerns her. Which is great since I don’t have to worry about her finances. I would really like help with my last three ( or 2) prescriptions. Sometimes it seems that nobody believes when I say I need the Dulera to help me breathe when I sleep. Luckily one Dulera will last me for two to three months.
