Hello everyone, my name is Armandas. I hope you’re all doing fantastic today. I’m here to tell you my story and why I’m here.
I’m currently 17 years old and I live with my parents in a small shack. When I’ve got free time, I play volleyball and other sports most of the time. Last summer I was really into volleyball, wanted to start playing more competitively, but problems with my health started to kick in. Out of nowhere, my right arm got 3 times bigger than my left arm. My parents took a 1 hour drive to the hospital where I met my doctors. Doctors didn’t know what to do because they’ve never seen anything like it before. It turned out that there were multiple thrombi found in my body: multiple in my lung vessels, 1 big thrombus in my right arm (which got bigger than the left one), and 1 thrombus in my shoulder vessels.
I had to take dangerous medication since my body had to adapt to it before using the safer ones. When doctors started talking about the safer but more expensive medication, my parents’s jaws dropped. They were super expensive. I have to drink 1 pill every morning. They make my blood more liquidy. My parents had to work night shifts just so they could bring some food to the table for me and my little sister.
This health problem occured really early in my life, this usually doesn’t happen to people. Getting thrombi in any part of the body is mainly an old peoples’ disease. I’m only 17. This has really damaged me financially and psychologically. Sometimes, when I think what my parents go through, I wish I wouldn’t cause them so many problems. My pills cost 80€ per 1 package. It takes me 2 weeks to use the package. It REALLY drains my familys money.
I really don’t want my parents to work so hard, so I’m here to ask for help. Any amount of money is really appreciated and would help me and my family out very much. I’ve never thought about writing such stuff and asking for money but I’m in a really bad situation. The donated money would go towards my pills and into my parents’s pockets so they could relax for a bit. Also we need a new fridge, so every cent would be REALLY appreciated.
