Faustino Vargas, 61 years old, was visiting his mother in Mexico to help care for her and their farm when he was brutally beaten and left for dead on the side of the road in the state of Guanajuato in Mexico.
What we know:
On the night of May 12 2019, Faustino was in the small rural town of Ojos de Aguas when he was jumped, dragged, and beaten with a hard object (doctors suggested a bat due to severe skull fractures). His assailants then left Faustino stranded in the dark. When the ambulance finally arrived, he was barely breathing and did not receive any proper medical treatment at the local clinic (it is a very small town with no emergency hospital). He was finally transferred to an emergency hospital in the nearest large city 5 hours later. Faustino was unable to breathe on his own and began to seizure, so the decision was made to induce him into a coma. It has now been over 3 weeks and he is still in critical condition. The doctors say that he still has brain activity, but all we can do is wait due to the physical trauma his brain has endured. There are many speculations as to what exactly happened the night of the incident, but we are currently seeking legal justice against those that were involved.
Faustino Vargas is a father, a husband, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and a friend.
Faustino Vargas is a U.S Citizen.
We are currently trying to bring him home to California, but the only way he can travel in his critical state is by air ambulance (i.e. by helicopter). Insurance does not cover these expenses and the air ambulance is requiring us to pay $30,000 USD out of pocket. This is the only way they will transfer him to a hospital in the states where he can receive the proper medical attention that he desperately needs.
What we are asking:
We do not have the sufficient funds to move Faustino on our own, so we ask if you could find it in your hearts to help us bring him home. We need $30,000 USD in order to transport him and any amount will help us tremendously. Thank you.
