Hello, here’s my story: A few years before I was born, my family moved to this country with three kids and barely any money. Growing up, I had a few goals: save and invest money for myself, help my family members with their debt and expenses, and buy real estate. The first two goals, especially helping my family, were the most important. Once I started working full time, I was hoping to bring these goals into fruition.
A few challenges came along the way, and as a result I am struggling immensely. First came the student loan debt, which I thought I could handle, but ended up crippling me with my savings. The medical debt and credit card debt came shortly after. A majority of my paycheck goes towards paying off my debts, yet I can’t seem to be making any kind of significant dent other than paying off interest. I’ve come to realize, being a single working woman, trying to maintain my immense debt while helping family members with theirs, is anything but easy. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to save much for myself and my personal goals.
Nonetheless, I did my best without giving up. Little by little I tried chipping away at the debt I needed to, while sending as much as I could to my family. But recently we faced another hit, one hitting home for many people. My family members, including my mother, lost their jobs due to Covid-19. My own paycheck has been affected due to a structural change in my company following Covid. My family needs my help now more than ever. They are struggling, desperate, and depressed. It pains me to know I cannot help them right now.
Nowadays things seem to be getting worse. Having undergone some medical procedures, and with some of my family members getting sicker, the medical debt we have is skyrocketing. And with missing days from work, I haven’t been able to make a dent in my own medical, credit card, or student loan debt. If I can’t help myself, I can’t help my family.
This is why I am asking for your help. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, and would help kickstart my life. My trajectory once gaining these funds is the following: first, pay off any outstanding medical debt I have. Next, pay off my student loan and credit card debts. After, I can finally help my family members and ease some of their burdens. This in particular, would bring me great joy.
Once I get these done, I would be better positioned for my future goals: save enough money to buy a home, and have enough money to give back to society, by way of donating to charity. Buying a home has always been a dream of mine. In fact, what I would like to do in the future is buy some property to rent out, thus having a continuous cash flow as I continue working. As for charity, I’ve always wanted to be financially secure enough to donate to a few charitable causes close to my heart; those helping the people from my hometown, and ones helping sheltered animals. I believe our duty as humans is to help those in need, and I’d like to pay it forward once I become financially independent.
So, thank you for reading my story, learning a little bit about my goals and passions. As I’ve stated, any amount would be greatly appreciated. If you can find it in your heart to donate, I will never forget it.
