Hello, my name is Peter, and I’m a 32-year-old from Romania.
In 2002, when I was only 11, life presented my family with immense challenges. My father lost his sight following a work-related accident, and shortly thereafter, my mother fell gravely ill. From that tender age, I took on a significant portion of our family’s burdens, working in construction after school to make ends meet.
I pursued an engineering degree post-high school, fueled by dreams of providing a better life for my family. But even while juggling work with studies, finances were tight. This pushed me to seek opportunities in Italy, but fate wasn’t kind, and I found myself returning to Romania with empty pockets.
Over the years, I’ve worked diligently, even managing to save for my father’s surgery, which, regrettably, didn’t bring the expected relief. I supported a partner through her academic journey and invested in our shared future, only to stand alone once she reached her milestones.
Now, I find myself in a pressing situation. For the past two years, my “home” has been wherever circumstances have allowed. My dream is simple, yet distant: a stable life in a place I can call home. In Romania, the stark reality is that my average monthly earnings of 500 euros are dwarfed by the cost of a modest home (40.000 euros). And though I’ve been diligently working and self-studying economics, the weight of my current situation often feels like too much to bear alone.
I’m reaching out now, not as a last resort, but in the spirit of community and shared humanity. A helping hand at this juncture would mean more than words can convey.
Thank you for taking a moment to walk in my shoes. May blessings and positivity find their way to each of you.
