Not sure how to being and ashamed, but imagine having a perfect life, wife, kids, pets, cars, etc. We are an ordinary middle-class family who work very hard, enjoy our family and believe in helping others. But imagine when life takes a turn and you are in danger of losing it all. Around 2010 my father and stepmom died in a horrific car accident, they had no life insurance but what we did receive from the auto insurance paid for both services with nothing left over, in addition my brother happened to also be in the auto at the time and sustained injuries that left him in a coma for three weeks and after eleven months in the hospital he came home blind due to his injuries. My family moved in with him for almost three years to help him get back to a normal life. Within this time all our bills started to pile up. We moved back into our home after three years but were hit with aliments that my wife started going through that limited her working and the bills piled higher. We lived a modest life not over our heads, but did live pay check to pay check, so no money in savings for emergencies. Well as the story goes, things break in a house, our water heater went bad, had to get one through our heating company PSEG and pay it off monthly, our air conditioner broke, still not fixed. One of our cars engines stalled and is no longer driveable, it was about one year old and we fought with both the car insurance and auto maker to no avail. We have to pay, plus needed another car so my wife could get to work.
My story is long and i’m sorry to bore you. There’s more but I think you get the picture. I work 2 jobs everyday from 8am to 9pm, at the moment my wife hasn’t worked since 2015. I’m only asking for help from someone who has the means to help. I just want to get out from debt and be current with all my bills so the anxiety that my family is going through can go away. Our credit is so low, we can’t get any loans and we pay high for the things we do have.
Our monthly expenses:
Mortgage – $1,752.12 / Car #1 – $505.15 / Car #2 – 641.44 / Auto Insurance – $487.62 plus electric, gas, water, basic cable, cell phone, very small credit card, food, car gas, tolls. It adds up past what I bring in a month.
Our house is in foreclousure but we are going through a modification process, we owe over $12,000 in medical bills, we owe the IRS because my wife was an independant contractor for almost 10 years and never put money away for taxes.
I’m just trying to get back on my feet. I believe in paying it forward and working for my money. I’ve been working steadily for 31 years with about only 3 months of unemployment some years back.
I thank you in advance for any help or contribution that you make. Anything will help.
