Hi; my name is Tia. Though I wish my first time communicating with you all had better circumstances, there are many things in life that are out of our control. I am submitting this message to explain why I’m in need of financial assistance with hopes of getting a place for my son to call his own. I am now back in college online to pursue my bachelor’s degree in hopes of finding a mentor that can take me under their wing, so I can one stand on my own in the real estate business. In 2019, I was evicted from my apartment in Hammond. I was experiencing trouble with pursing my degree at Southeastern Louisiana University and handling rent alone. I also was having trouble with my car. I had no transportation. When my car did work, it was always taking a chance at life driving it. There were oil leakages everyday: having to actually get out the car in the middle of the road to put oil in the car because it would be leaking as I was driving. Also, I could not drive at all when it would rain because my windshield wipers were broken completely. As we know, it rained a lot in Hammond, Louisiana. When I did not have a car, I would have to find rides to my job at Target because I could not afford to uber to work every day. Still to this day, I don’t have a working vehicle that’s why I’m taking online classes. It’s hard finding a babysitter, but I’m not quitting on providing a better life for us.
In 2019, my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia. My family took a hard hit because my grandmother was not in a nursing home, and this put a lot of stress on my mom. This is where my relationship with my mother dwindled most, and I began facing many of these problems completely on my own. My parents stopped communicating with me to avoid helping, and I ended up homeless. I went through a rough patch during this time, and I genuinely did not know where to go.
Since then, I have been proactively working to get my life stable so that I can focus on school. My baby and I have been staying with my boyfriend’s mom. It has been hard trying to get this eviction of $3600 off my credit. I can’t get a place because my credit is significantly low. I need a safe place, so that I can provide a better life for my son and me. I can efficiently work on my studies all of while keeping a great and positive life balance. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I hope you all consider me heavily.
