Praying for a $3,580.00 Miracle by 08/20/22

Hi, we are a family of 4 in desperate need of help!  We need help coming up with a lot of money in a short amount of time, so that we can keep a roof over our heads and not wind up on the streets.  There has been a culmination of things that happened to get us to this point, but it all comes down to; we thought we had time to get caught up and back on track (we even had a plan), but now it seems that time has become our enemy and I just don’t know what we are going to do!  Let me explain:

Approximately 3 months ago, my 13 year old teenage daughter decided she was going to kill herself.  Thank God, I found out about her plan and I immediately went into action to get her help!  I first called my job and alerted my manager of what was going on and let them know that I would not be logging in for work (I work from home), because I needed to see about my daughter.  Then, I called the behavioral emergency number provided to me for our area and wound up taking my daughter that very same morning to a local emergency room for help (our local hospital, Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, has a mental health program and behavioral unit for children in crisis).  They admitted her that day into the emergency room, and we commenced to wait for a spot to open up in the Behavioral Unit for my daughter to receive treatment.

The hospital was so overloaded with children in crisis, that we wound up waiting 2 weeks just in an emergency holding room, before they were able to get her at least admitted to a regular medical room in the hospital, because there was a waiting list for the Behavioral Unit. It was 2 weeks of just my daughter and I, in a room with no windows, just waiting (there was no treatment at this time, until they could actually get her admitted to the hospital).  I had kept in constant contact with my Job during this time, and they were very understanding, but I was not paid during this time out of work, because I had no PTO or vacation time available.  My husband, thank goodness was working.  He had just started a new Security job.

After 2 weeks they were finally able to admit her to the hospital, and after another week, She was finally able to be admitted to the Behavioral Unit, and then I finally went home and back to work.  This was the beginning of our falling behind with the rent.  As I was out of work for practically a month with no pay, and my husband had to work 2 weeks “in the hole”, since he had just started his job, before he got a pay check.  Then, all of a sudden our old van (our only means of transportation we have) started having mechanical problems.  The next couple of weeks my husband put whatever money we had available, into trying to keep the van running, because he needed to get back and forth to work.  Until finally on his way to work one evening, my husband heard a loud “BOOM” and the van ceased to move.  To make a long story short, the engine blew in the van, and NO MORE VAN!!!  We needed a new vehicle, so my husband was able to go to a local car lot and buy a used car.  Of course, he had to put down a deposit, and that was just about the rest of the money we had.

During all of this, I had been in contact with our Landlord and explained to him what was going on.  He had been gracious and patient with us, and we were doing all we could to keep working and try to get caught up.  It has been a struggle, but we were working and paying little by little what we could.  My daughter was finally released from the hospital and is doing better, but I have been having to take a lot of time off of work without pay, to get her back and forth every week to appointments with a therapist, Case worker, Psychiatrist and Psychologist. Thank God for Medicaid, otherwise, I would not be able to afford her treatments.  In any case, for the most part my husband, has been holding us down with his job, but he does not make nearly enough to not only get us caught up, but also keep us afloat with all of the monthly bills.  We have been doing the best we can.

At the beginning of July, our Landlord gave us a Notification letter letting us know how much we were behind and how much we owed (attached).   He has always given us these notices as a way to keep track of what we owe.   Then, out of nowhere at nearly the end of the month we received a 30 day notice stuck to our door(also attached), and the information on the notice wasn’t even from our Landlord.  It appears he may have sold the property to someone else.  We had no clue!  Now, we are really in a scramble to try and get completely caught up, so that we won’t be put out on the street.  I am so completely mentally and physically exhausted, with everything we were already facing and trying to handle, and now this!  I truly don’t know how much more I can take!  We’re not bad people.  We have just had a really rough time of it the past 5 months.  All I am asking is for help raising the money we are past due on our rent, $3,850.00.  We’re almost out of time.  Please, help us if you can.
