re-post, forgot to add my paypal.me link at the end of my story. paypal.me/fatherofson
Below is a summary regarding me gaining custody of my son that occured in September 2018 and what has occurred since taking my child in my possession.
In September (2018) my child’s mother who was the custodial parent contacted me and informed me that she cannot and will not continue to raise our son. My child had been going through a very challenging time for a very long time. His mother is diagnosed with paypal.me/fatherofson at a young age including depression and still struggles with her condition. My son was failing all of his grades, a handful of suspensions due to his behavior that was linked to his stress at home and lack of attention from his mother. His mother made the decision to change his high school over 5 times with a 2 year span thinking that would solve the problem. The verbal abuse and neglect my child received for so long that caused his faults in school and at home led him to me. My life changed overnight when I accepted my son into my life full time and paid for a one way ticket from Texas to Denver.
I quit my traveling job which was my career to accept my son into my life. There were no questions asked for me to take on this critical role as a full time father. I then moved from Denver to Colorado Springs, quickly got us an apartment and found a job nearby that would allow me to not travel and be 100% focused on my child. My life changed drastically, then after we settled in and started to grow together I lost my job as a store manager due to store closings. Since then it has been extremely challenging to find a job. I could have easily found a job out of state or one that requires a lot of travel however my decision to stay in Colorado Springs was for the welfare and growth of my child that would give him a second chance in life that would allow him to be successful now and in the future. Brett my son is now a Senior in High School and is excelling in his grades and will graduate this year. He has learned respect, struggle, appreciation, values, dedication, determination and so on. I could not be more proud of my son for his growth and his self commitment in addition to the confidence he has developed.
I lost my car and I then took the bus to apply for jobs, walked to Walmart several times a week and carried our groceries back home over 2 miles. My son helped me several times carry our grocery bags home and road the bus with me several times to places that I applied for jobs. I sold everything we owned to save money to purchase a car a month ago. Having a car has helped us in many ways and I am now able to make some money delivering food until I find a job that will financially support us. The rebuilding has truly begun.
With assistance in rental payment help, I will be able to sustain me and my child’s living situation and safely care for my son as he graduates high school this coming May. We are in need of rental assistance that is due now or we will be evicted. I have exhausted all other options, agencies and 211 as there is no rental assistance available in Colorado Springs. I have no other support, not even from his mother, my family or friends. The mother is not paying me child support at all since I took my son full time. Preserving the current status of my child’s growth is extremely important. Preventing him and I from homelessness would be devastating to my child’s growth and future. He has come so far in life with me.
Eviction will cause trauma in his growth and confidence in me and family and leave a lasting negative impact on his life. My request for emergency rental assistance will reduce the risk of such impacts.
I have safely cared for my child for almost 2 years that I am not dependent on welfare and there is a bright future for my son and I will once again work in my field knowing my son made self change and will have a bright future.
I am worried, stressed and can’t sleep thinking about what would happen if we are evicted from our apartment and the negative impact it will have on my child. I will be able to pay March, April and going forward for rent now that I have a car and am delivering food. With 6 hours of work each day I am averaging 90 dollars a day. Please note I also financially support my child for example clothing, food and medical fees that just occurred. I was approved to work for another delivery company yesterday. I will work two jobs to ensure rent is paid going forward. I am now able to do just that with a car and sustain our living and safety wellbeing.
I am seeking help, I pray to ensure the safety, welfare, health, future and growth of my child.
I appreciate your time. Please call me at 7204313402 if you need to speak with me or have any further questions.
I have added a photo of the eviction letter to this request. Please note that if I pay the total amount due before March 3rd, 2020 I will prevent eviction for my son and I.
Thank you so much.
