My name is Ariel Craft and I am 21 years old. I have always had a job and a savings and plan for any situation until now. Last year I bought a used truck for 5300. I emptied my entire savings on it; because I knew I was going to be able to save the money up again. The truck ran great for 6 months until the first problem came.
I didn’t feel anything wrong with the brakes when I first brought the truck so, I was just riding not knowing I was wearing all of the rotors down. So, I had to chip out of my savings again to replace four rotors. Then I get in a car accident which threw out the lower control arm. That’s another chip at my savings and since that accident wasn’t covered I had to pay out of pocket for the repairs. I spent just under 1000 on total repairs.
The very next month after my accident the transmission starts to go. I had 800 in my saving but the work cost 1900 that’s everything include warranty and all right. So I use my entire paycheck plus my savings to pay for a “new” transmission. The “new” transmission goes out the day after the warranty ends which was three months after the fact.
The “new” transmission goes out 1 month after I get my apartment and new job. I thought I was good and starting fresh and I was ready. I was wrong. The job I was working only paid 9.00/hr. and I got paid on a weekly basis which was great because I no longer had a stash of money. I needed to build as quickly as possible so I worked the first month at 45 hours or more each week. I was only able to accumulate 300 in the first month. This is the same time I gave up one my truck so I sold it but it wasn’t worth much because it could barely even move. So that took my saving up to 1100.
Once the truck was gone I was relying on a co-worker to take my back in forth from work for 50 a week. That was going great up until October. He quit without any heads up. He blocked my number and everything instead of just telling me he quit. So, for the first week I was paying $30 a day there and back with lyft and uber. That 180 a week just to get to work and that was the majority of my check. At this point the only reason the bills were paid for the month is because of the savings. I was able to hang on for three weeks until I started going negative. I don’t have a way to get to work now so, I see if my manager and I can work something out but his only words were “I’m sorry we are going to have to let you go if you can’t find a ride.”
Now I’m here with an eviction notice and shut off warnings from everyone. I would like a donation of $5000 so I can catch up on my bills and get a car to go back work.
