I have lived at my current home for almost 3 years now. There is myself, my 72 year old mother, my 3 year old nephew, my sister in-law who has epilepsy, my 2 brothers and my other nephew. We all have a lot on our plate in regards to things we are doing. I am currently unemployed and staying at home to help my mother with day to day activities as her memory is not doing so well these days and I also help my sister in-law when she needs it and I also watch my 3 year old nephew. One of my brothers works full time and the other is currently in college my nephew is seeking work.
We have paid out rent, on time. Without fail and have delt with the world’s most horrible landlord who never fixes anything in the house to the point that we buy it and install it ourselves. He is also incredibly rude to my mother and speaks to her like she is trash. My mother never told me about this unfortunately.
I recently walked in on him yelling at my mother about how this was his house and we just rent it and that we should not of replaced his toilet (that he would not fix) and that he wanted 1000 for doing it. I then raised my voices asking him who the hell he thought he was and why he was in our home without notifying us 24 hours in advance. He then stormed out and said you better pay me 1000 or else and slammed our door.
The following day this was given to me by some random person who I guess was trying to look like he was a constable or something to put us under the impression that he already filed with the courts to give us an eviction. But I know better. He thinks he is smart but he really is not.
With that said. This was very sudden, super shocking to us all and there is nothing we can do to protect ourselves. I even contacted an ask a lawyer website to see if this was legal and in our state since we are on a month to month contract now and no longer a lease agreement that landlords can give you the boot at anytime they want by giving you a 30 day notice and don’t even have to tell you why they did it.
The worse part is we have been perfect tenants and we have never been late and we are currently not late on our house payments. We love our home and it’s being taken away from us because of some guys ego and being asked who the hell he thought he was and to not speak to my mother like the way he did. EVER.
I have been on the phones with my main bank. Chase bank. They gave informed me if they were going to give me a possible loan to get into a new home I would need to come up with 10% down on it and that’s coming out to around 12500.00. can you say jaw hitting the ground?
I have till the end of april to get out of our home that we don’t want to leave and one of the worst parts to all of this is eventually we are going to have to tell my 3 year old nephew that we are leaving our home. The home he loves and has been at since he was born. He loves this place. It’s going to break my heart.
Honestly. My heart is already broken. Im scared and don’t know what else I can do. But I’ll keep trying. I have to. I can’t let my family not have a home to go to at the end of april.
