Good afternoon,
My name is Joe and I wish to thank anyone who is reading this. I am currently engaged to a beautiful young woman with whom I plan to marry next spring. We are having a very difficult time, financially, getting caught up with rent and utilities. We have had barely enough to cover basic grocery shopping but have been managing. We fell into some heavy financial hardship back in May of this year (2022). I got let go from my job and it immediately began setting us back on our bills. I began looking for work immediately and started a new position to be a Life Insurance Agent in the state of NY. I went through the classes, passed the exam and got licensed at the end of June. My fiance and I were able to cover the bills at base level to keep the lights on but we quickly fell behind on rent, electric and gas. My car got reposessed as a result. I was able to get it back only after borrowing from a family member $2,100. Moving into the beginning of August, we were issued a 14 day eviction notice for our apartment as we were behind about $2,600 on rent. For this we had to take out a personal loan to pay it off. We were given a stern warning from our landlord that if we were late on rent again, she would not renew our lease at the beginning of November and we have no where else to go. We can’t afford to move and no one can take us in. Now entering into September, my job has finally starting picking up well. I got promoted to management and the opportunity to make more money is starting to come through, just not to the level where we need to be at just yet. With my position, it is commission based, as I sell Life Insurance. So I just need time to get established in my work for us to be ahead on bills for good. Through this, however, we have fallen behind on the bills for the month of September. I am exceptionally overwhelmed with it and do not know what to do to catch up. We owe $2,295 for rent (which is our $1,575 monthly payment, $670 legal fee for the 14 day eviction notice plus a $50 late fee), $295.33 electric bill which is set for termination and an $84.05 gas bill. I’m working everyday to get ahead and my fiance is working 2 jobs and we are absolutely struggling. We just need to get ahead to give us some wiggle room and time to get ahead. It seems everytime we start moving forward we get hit with something else and it seems impossible to make any sort of progress. We just desperately need help in getting caught up with these because we have no idea what to do otherwise.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Joseph Bardsley
