In September 2021 everything was fine. Husband and I were both working in construction, I’m a carpenter foreman and he’s a carpenter. In October I was run off the road by a large truck and totalled my car. My husband’s car needed repairs so we had to spend some of the settlement on that, which meant I would have to save more to get a new vehicle. At the end of October we were both laid off because the company we worked for were unable to sustain their work force due to lack of winning bids for construction projects. It took me 3 weeks to begin work at another company, him 5. We had to use all of our savings to stay current on rent and bills. I have an extra vehicle but it’s a very old truck with over 300,000 miles, needs constant maintenance and I’m always afraid it will give out. We were positive we would get ahead again. Then, right after Thanksgiving my husband started having horrible pains in his wrists and hands. Since he works with his hands he went straight to our family doc, who sent him to get a nerve test for carpal tunnel. It turned out but to be carpal tunnel and he was sent to a neurologist for an MRI. They found a “shadow” and a buckled disc in his neck. He shakes a lot, has pain sitting up his arms, and terrible weakness in his hands. He was out of work until just recently when he found the kind of work he can do without causing him more pain, it’s in customer service. Meanwhile we fell behind on our rent, which is$2355 a month, and some of our bills, usually another $300-$400 on top of that. Christmas came and went, we have 5 children, some adults, with 2 grandchildren. Needless to say we weren’t able to give them a very good Christmas and my daughter, who is twelve and I share custody with her bio dad wasn’t even able to be here because her plane ticket was too much. In February I was two weeks late with my rental payment. I received an eviction notice (see image attached). Since I did get it paid around the 12th to of that month I was taken out of eviction status. However, the lease states that if the rent is paid late three times during the lease period (one year, that began in January) then they may choose go through with eviction. The image I’ve posted is the third notice I’ve had. I’ve been in contact with my rental agent and they are giving me some grace… However I’m asking for any donations because I need to get current on my bills. I’ve fallen behind, I haven’t paid my fill rent yet this month and I won’t be able to until next week’s paycheck. I am working full time however, and my husband just began working as well, but his medical issues are ongoing and he may require surgery. Also his income is less than half what it used to be but if we can bring our rent up to current and nature it on time we will be able to sustain. Eviction would cause is to be homeless, unable to rent somewhere else, and cost so much more than we can come you with right now. The issue isn’t that we can’t afford it bills now, it’s that we got behind and had no way to make up the difference. The only other issue is that I’m supposed to fly my daughter here for the summer from Utah and I can’t even imagine having to tell her I can’t. Any donation helps. If we can make enough to become current on my rent and bills I am willing to donate at least $25 to someone on this site monthly for a year. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. I certainly wish I were in a position to help others rather than asking. Thank you for reading, it is very much appreciated. Please donate if you can, we are a hard working family and worth saving!
