Good evening and thank you kindly for reading our request.
Unfortunately, the only photos I have are from news clippings for this cause so it is an internet photo. I didn’t want to take my own photos of the residents of the tent city out of respect. However, I have included to legitimate link to the source and article explaining what tent city is since there was a story from the sun sentinel recently.
Last year, we located a homeless tent community in the park we run in. It is an eye sore of a community filled with tents and in those tents are homeless folks with no food or barely any shelter. This year, we want to do something about it by fundraising for food and basic needs in addition to donating my salary from a job I had.
Unfortunately, not only did I lose my job, but I could have easily become one of the growing numbers of homeless families within this tent city community. This tent city has grown in this area since the spread of Covid-19 and the city of Lake Worth Florida is doing nothing to assist with even shelter for these people! I find that shameful to say! At the end of the day, they are people, like us, most are either families, seniors or individuals with mental illnesses who do not have a voice of their own and aren’t usually treated fairly or humanely.
All the homeless are allowed to do is set up a tent, if they have one and sleep at their risk within this rather large park making it uncomfortable for park visitors to enjoy a stay at the park I am sure. Entire families, seniors and veterans reside here, making this even more heart breaking. Fundraising by any means seems almost impossible without ANY support! I have created a cooking YouTube channel and managed to gain a following of merely 22 people. I created a page on FB and even want to sell my art that no one wants to buy! I DO NOT want to give up, there for I BEG!
The point is, if I could create a shelter for the people to stay providing food etc, I would in a heart beat but no one in their right mind would donate hundreds of thousands to help little ole me make a difference in at least her community. I will however, beg and beg again for the sake of helping these people.
Our first project effort is SIMPLE; FOOD and if we have enough funds left, we would love to provide a small care package. We initially wanted to get our business started so that we could donate proceeds on a REGULAR basis. This unfortunately came to a halting stop is because of funding as well as Covid. I don’t think we will ever be able to start our business but I am happy with just assisting the community instead since the purpose of the business was technically to create an additional stream of donations. All we can do is ask for a helping hand for at least our community efforts!
Thank you for your support on our future efforts!!!
