My name is Zach Watson and I am 22 years old. In 2019, I applied for my first credit card. I was excited to get my credit rolling so I started charging the card. I eventually got two more and started charging those as well. I was keeping up with the payments and in fact, I still have never missed a payment. And then 2020 hit. And not in the way I know you are thinking. I’m a package handler at UPS. I do physical labor 5 days a week sometimes 6. That being said, my physical condition was key to keeping my job. Unfortunately, I had suffered a shoulder accident that had torn my labrum in my left shoulder. I was on disability for 6 months. This plummeted my credit score as I was having to put my student bills/groceries as well as past debts from my credit cards thereby increasing my revolving utilization. I was barely able to make payments with the fraction of pay that I was getting. My parents were unable to help me as they are struggling to get by as well. So, through a set of unfortunate events and circumstances, I am very low on cash with mounds of monthly charges I must now pay. I have recovered my credit score somewhat, but fear I will not make enough money at work to rid my debt and that a loan would further hurt me. I am an extremely humble person and never like to have handouts or ask for money, but my bank account is too close to zero for me not to at least try once.
Now that I am back at UPS, my main goal has been to pay off my credit cards. And while admittedly I fall into the same impulsive spending habits as a lot of other Americans do, I acknowledge the severity of my mistakes and would like to ask for any help whatsoever. I am currently about 1900 in debt. The interest fees are incredibly taxing on my progress and with my less than satisfactory pay at UPS, this debt along with groceries and other expenses is why I have turned to this site. Moreover, I would like to move out this summer which will add a ton of new pressure on my wallet. With the end of my last semester at community college around the corner, I one day have a passion to transfer to a university to study audio production but with my financial situation, it is impossible. My passion is music and I hope to make one day something of my talents. It is an extremely hard field to make good money in. While I expect nothing for the mistakes that I have made, I would ask that you would help with anything you can. Thank you.
