Our situation is very heart-breaking and desperate.
I’m in my 40s and Autistic. I live with my brother, who is also my legal guardian.
On April 13, 2015, our mother died of “The Big C”. We had tried everything to save our home, including crowdsourcing on GoFundMe. My brother even offered himself in employment to big people, including Donald Trump, at reduced pay in exchange for our bills covered until he could graduate from college with his Associates in Business Administration. Everyone turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to us, had nothing but scorn for us, so we were foreclosed on. We lost everything. We left for another city to try to start over.
Fast forward to 2018. He’s gotten his Associates and he’s less than a year away from getting his Bachelors in the same field when the living expenses disbursement money that was sent to us every 3 months…guess what? It turned out to be disbursements from the student loans, and the university didn’t tell us that up front! He had used a portion of it to pay his tuition, every time. So when June came around, we were in trouble, because he had to call several times in order to find out the truth. Another failed crowdsource fundraiser later, on September 2018, he was fired from TD Bank and forced to drop out of college.
He took on a job selling life insurance, but it is not going well. At all. In fact, he hasn’t been able to sell anything in the past 3 weeks due to the clients being, for the most part, stingy or on disability. I took on a part-time job at a retail shop (I can’t take on full-time because I’m on SSI and in this state, if you work too much, you lose medical), but I can’t make enough to cover the rent.
We have been trying everything we can on our own but at this rate…we will be out on the streets for the New Year, and dead soon after.
Rent is $907.71. Utilities run $200. We don’t have landlines, so phones are $220 (leased). Auto payments is $300, Insurance is $120. That’s not covering food expenses.
Rent is due on the 1st (1/1/2019), grace period is 5 days. After that, it’s $100/day late fee. On the 10th day, it’s an automatic eviction, no exceptions.
We need at least $2,000 to survive. The photo taken is our biggest one, the rent, which includes sewer, water, pest control and trash.
Please help us. Help me have something to believe in again.
