Hello and thank you for taking a look at my page,
My name is Patrick McElhone and I am 28 years old. It takes alot for me to write this as I do not like to ask for help. I live with my family of 8 that includes my mom, dad, uncle, grandma, older bother, his fiance, and my twin. We are struggling to make our bills and it has hit us hard recently.
I used to work at a center for children with autism until I was unfortunately diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis. This is a condition that causes my skin and nails to have issues as well as causing debilitating pain in multiple area of my body. My mother has also been diagnosed with this condition and we struggle with pain day to day.
In addition to this, my grandmother had a surgery in her early life that caused her to he unable to work and recently has been diagnose and is struggling with small cell lung cancer. My uncle has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar depression and has been in and out of the hospital with mental health issues and non-Hodgkins lymphoma. These issues have only increased since the passing of my grandfather 6 years ago.
My older brother has autism as well as diabetes which has caused him to lose his left eye and his fiance also has autism. The only income that really comes into the home currently is my father and it is getting harder and harder to get by. We are grateful that he is able to work as about 10 years ago, he suffered a stroke with a 98% mortality rate and walked out of the hospital on his own. Dispite a few small deficits, he is healthy and tries his best to help.
My mother used to have a job as well but unfortunately became unable to work after pushing through pain for 13 years after her initial diagnosis. I was trying to as well until blood tests revealed that my condition has progressed to about where my mother is.
We are a close knit family and have been working together to make the best out of the situation that we find ourselves in. My one wish for this holiday season is to help alleviate some stress from my parents that best I can. This has included doing as much house work as possible with the pain and selling my things to help with bills.
I know that it is the holidays and that everyone is busy, but any support that can be give is greatly appreciated and, when I am in a better place in my life, I promise to do all that I can to pay the kindness forward.
Again thank you for reading and happy holidays!
