I am a hard-working parent of 2 daughters, that also attends college part-time. I have worked 2-3 jobs at a time just to provide for my family and am always willing to go above and beyond to make my children happy. I recently decided to put my energy towards only working at my main form of employment, housekeeping, in order to have more time with my children. When I was working 7 days a week on all 3 shifts, I had little to no time to be a present as my children wanted and needed me to be. This also made it easier for me to focus on my schooling and finish the program I am enrolled in. With the holidays going on along with my youngest daughter’s birthday approaching on New Year’s Eve, I have found myself in a bind that is seemingly difficult to get out of. As I make progress in one area, another issue tends to arise. My family and I have recently relocated quite a distance from our hometown. This in itself put financial strain on my already suffering budget. The deposit for the lights to get connected was around $300, and our new place didn’t come with a stove, refrigerator, washer, or dryer. I had to get internet installed in order to stay on top of my schooling and reach out to local resources, which was another costly expense. On top of rent, utilities, and paying for classes, I also have a $300 car payment with $100 insurance every month. There is also the burden of $90 I pay every month to the IRS due to a filing error on behalf of HR Block. I am still waiting on my audit protection plan to be reviewed which could take an unforeseen amount of time. With the tax issue I am dealing with, I don’t anticipate a tax refund next year to look forward to. I work in housekeeping at a small hotel, so my hours vary and are minimal at this time of year. I am barely making enough to cover my rent and car payment every month, and don’t receive any government assistance besides food stamps. The amount that I get every month seems to only make us through to the third week, which leaves me spending cash for food. I have been unable to qualify for a loan due to my low-income amount, but apparently make too much for any other type of assistance. Now I have suddenly been hit with insufficient fund fees by my bank, which now has me at a negative balance. Even will all of these financial requirements, I still have to manage to afford basic needs such as gas and childcare. This has been an extremely trying period in my life, and I am hoping to receive any type of help that someone is willing to give. I feel like I am out of options and I’m not quite sure where to go from here.
