My daughter and I recently moved to Georgia from NY. We were staying with family and had to move out quickly due to a domestic violence incident that occurred. Due to the kindness of a friend we have been staying on her couch and am very humbled and thankful for keeping us off the streets. She has a family and full house but she never makes us feel unwanted. I was able to get a very low paying job but am thankful it allows me to help buy groceries and do my transportation to work and give towards something in the home so as not to be as much of a burden. Because we have a cat going to a shelter was not an option because the cat is a therapy animal for my daughter. My daughter has been interviewing for jobs but no luck so far and she is also in school. Things are turning around though. God has blessed me with a very good job that starts on April 22nd. Because my daughter is older I didn’t receive a big tax refund but it was enough to pay for the security deposit, application fees for both of us and the high risk fees because I previously owned my home and have not much rental history and a lower credit score. What I am requesting money for is getting us on our feet. I need $1026 for May rent. I will receive my first check from my new job on May 10th and I don’t want to be late right away. I also need $150 deposit to have our electric turned on. In my present job my next check will be small because they lay us off for a week during spring break so half my income will be gone and then my next check needs to help cover expenses for here, my April prorated rent, groceries and transportation again which includes buying a bus pass for 30 days to get started at my new job. There will be no more checks before I have to move. I have been seeking assistance from local community resources but have not had success. I also need to get things to furnish the apartment. I left NY because of getting divorced and starting a new life but we have nothing. No furniture, bedding, dishes, etc. Our appliances are included but need a washer and dryer. I am not looking for thousands of dollars. I am a firm believer in doing what I can for myself. I am merely explaining that we have a need for so much. I am a good and hard working Christan woman. I am thankful for our new life and the opportunities we have been given. Any help you can give will be helpful towards that May rent and electricity deposit. Anything that exceeds that will be used to meet our other needs. I’m thrifty and can make a dollar stretch as needed. I also will make sure to help others once we are on our feet and pay it forward. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. God bless you.
