My name is Christian and I need some help getting out of debt to start saving for not only my future but my family, to include our newborn. Here is my story.
I have currently been enlisted in the military for just under nine years, and although I had been financially stable before, life responsibilities and bad choices have led me to where I am today.
I met my best friend, and now wife, 13 years ago online playing a video game. We decided to finally meet up 5 years ago, and eventually fell in love. She moved over to my location and we got happily married. Just under a year later, we were blessed with a beautiful child who we pray remains healthy and happy.
Currently, I plan to leave the military. I’ve loved every moment of it but we are ready to start our lives back in our home state and raise our daughter around all of our family. My issue is, I plan to leave in under two years time, and im afraid my bad financial choices are preventing me from saving money and paying off my debt. I want to be financially stable and have some savings to be able to start our lives, or at least pay for rent for a few months while looking for a job or finishing school.
I got addicted to mobile games, particularly gacha games, and have accured about $3,700 in debt on my credit card. I have bills as well on this credit card, which I am able to pay off every month, but I can’t seem to even scratch the debt from the games I’ve played. I have since deleted and stopped playing such games, and simply want to move on and prepare for the next important stage of my life.
While attempting to put any extra money i can save towards this debt, it prevents me from putting anything at all into my savings account. It sits at about $1,100. Clearly, no one can live off of this jobless for a few months, let alone use this money to help with any potential costs of moving.
I want to pay off this debt, build my savings, and especially build for my child’s future. Anything at all would be helpful. If I could even get my debt paid off I’d be extremely grateful. My costs for rent and bills leave me with little to save or pay my credit card.
This was very hard to make. It took me a long time to realize that I need help, and if I don’t get this situation stable, I’m scared I won’t be able to help my family. I really want to move on. I have attached a screenshot of my current savings and debt, zoomed in for security purposes.
