I’m a 28 year old single mother of 5 girls. We’re experiencing a hardship that came about, during a medical leave, that I’ve took from work.
I was left unpaid for 4 consecutive months because, I had to take a non-FMLA the first two months of my leave due to placenta previa (during pregnancy). That sudden stop in income, caused me to fall short on a lot of responsibilities. Now my family and I are facing an eviction if the past due amount of 664.00 isn’t paid.
I’m unsure where to turn to for help now. I’ve tried every local nonprofit organizations’, churches’ and other organizations for help with rent but, no luck with them. I was told “we don’t have the funds” or I was gave a referral to another resource. The two referrals that I’ve received, unfortunately couldn’t help either.
Our reality is a living nightmare right now. I struggle with childcare for my newborn because, I don’t have enough money after I pay bills, student loan debt, transportation costs to work (which I’ve recently started back 2 weeks ago), groceries and providing the proper care for my 5 daughters. I rely on public transportation and I have to leave work early to meet 4 of my daughters home from school.
My children are between the ages of 11 years old and 3 months old and really need me in their life but, it’s hard when I’m making my best to grab as many hours as I can get and still be left with nothing, to handle past due bills.
I don’t ask for much other than to help me protect my girls from a life they didn’t ask for or deserve (being homeless), while I work my way back towards my family’s self sufficiency. Helping us keep a roof over our head means more than anything as I always make sure we have food to eat.
Any thing ( i.e $5.. $10.. $20 or $50) will help us through this dark cloud right now. Thank you for hearing my family’s situation and God bless all.
