My son’s dad, Kim, Was recently diagnosed with stage for stomach cancer. As you can imagine, this came as quite a shock to our family. Kim lost over 60 pounds and lost a lot of muscle mass during the winter months as he was unable to keep any food down. He thought his illness was due to simple acid reflux and refrained from going to any doctors or hospitals due to coronavirus. Kim finally felt bad enough to go see a doctor. They performed an endoscope on him. Unfortunately what Kim thought was acid reflux turned out to be a malignant tumor the size of a baseball. It was covering the opening of his stomach creating a very tiny hole, through which food or drink could not get. Doctors were shocked to see that Kim had not fainted in his condition. He got a stent put into his stomach immediately. This opened up the tiny hole.Kim is finally able to eat small amounts of food and will be able to try to rebuild his strength. Kim is currently undergoing chemotherapy and auto immune therapy. No I’m not just telling you our problems for sympathy but because we are in desperate need of financial help during this difficult time. Kim lives in Alaska. He has to travel 12 hours every two weeks to receive his treatment. This is a tremendous amount of gas money that will not be reimbursed to him. Because Kim’s weight has fluctuated drastically, he is in need of clothes. Even thrift stores are not that cheap anymore! His doctors recommend that at this point in his life the best thing for Kim’s health is comfort. One of his biggest wishes is to spend as much time As possible with his two young children. He has one 5 year old boy and one 12 year old girl. As I mentioned, Kim lives in Alaska. Both of his kids live in southern states and it will be expensive to get this family reunited during this very important time. What he is able to eat is very expensive and food gets expensive when you have to try to eat six small meals a day, especially if it gets wasted due to not being able to eat. Because Kim’s doctor prescribed comfort I don’t think it’s out of line to raise money for him to be able to experience some fun things before he is unable to. This man is already fighting for his life, I am very brokenhearted to see him struggle financially. No matter what help is provided it is not cheap to fight cancer! I think you for taking time to read about our family issue. All donations, big or small, are very generous. As many prayers and encouraging words are just as important to us! Thank you in advance!
