I worked with a company for 20 years, and enjoyed my occupation. I started up an account for the company which offered patient services. I took pride in my job and worked very hard, increasing from 15-20 patients per day at initial start, up to 160-200 patients per day. I was a liason between my former company, and the client, a physician office. I established a professional relationship with the client, and staff, and they treated me like family. I maintained superior productivity and offered exemplary service. I had been under the management of 4 different supervisors during my 20 years with the company, and never had any trouble or complaints. In November, right before the Christmas holidays, the new supervisor terminated my employment. He had just been assigned my site to supervise in August (only 3 months prior) due to company restructuring.
From the beginning, I kept picking up bad vibes from the new supervisor, but I continued to be professional, friendly, and worked as part of the team. The client was happy with the service provided, and I was confident that the new supervisor would be impressed with the smooth workflow, and excellent customer service at my location.
With budget cuts, Covid, and everything going on at the time, not once did my location close. We are frontline workers and were obligated to be there for the patients. As of November 8, 2021, the new supervisor ended my employment with the company and left me in a huge bind. I was fortunate to have saved up a little money to get Christmas gifts for my family, and cover the expenses for a month, but my resources have been exhausted.
I have been applying for jobs since November 2021, with no luck. I’ve interviewed for several jobs, and I have skills and qualifications, but I haven’t been successful in obtaining a new career. Currently, I have monthly rent of $1200, utilities, etc totaling $500, insurance payment of $200 per month, $6000 in credit card debt, and I’m late on the payments. I have a car loan payment, that I’m now $2500 behind on, and I have another $5000 personal loan that needs to be payed off.
I’ve always worked hard for everything in life. I even raised my daughter alone. I was a single father that made sure she had everything that she needed. She is now 24, and in college, doing well. I am not the type of person who asks for hand outs. I have an education, and I have a great work ethic, I’m just going through a bad time. I’m having to appeal my unemployment insurance, so I haven’t even received that since I’ve been unemployed. I have no one to borrow any money from, and I’ve used up my resources already just getting food and necessities.
I am continuing my search for a new job, but if my car is repossessed, I won’t have transportation. If my utilities are disconnected, I don’t know what I’ll do. I am humble and honest. I am a healthcare worker, and I’m 45 years old. I’m not opposed to working, but it’s been hard, especially due to my age and the time spent at the company. I appreciate any assistance offered. May God bless you.
