Hi, my name is Amber I’m married with 2 sons one who just turned 13 and the other who also just turned 3. I’m coming to this site to ask for help for my 13 year old son. His name is Anthony. He’s been through so much ever since he was four months old they found out that he had hydrocephalus and needed to have a shunt placement. Then in 2014 when he was five years old at a routine and MRI appointment for his shunt they found a mass. When we Found out it was like everything was in slow motion i Couldn’t even focus on what the doctor was saying. I can’t even begin to explain what kind of nightmare it is. He was Diagnose with an inoperable brain tumor, He had surgery to have a port placed and then He did 10 months of chemo and six weeks of radiation and then started having stable scans which was amazing! His scans were so good that they even did surgery again to remove his port, Which felt like a huge weight being lifted off of us. After that we had yearly scans Which always showed it was stable and he was doing great. But then over 5 years later in June 2019 they found a another mass and it was fast growing. He had to have brain surgery to get a biopsy and to remove as much as they could, Even though five years ago they said there was no way to get a biopsy which made me very nervous. The surgery went great but He was sadly diagnosed with Glioblastoma stage 4, Which has a pretty bad prognosis of 14 months to 2 years. Which 2 months ago he celebrated His 2 year anniversary from diagnosis!! But since his surgery he did a year of chemotherapy On top of more radiation. Only to do a scan after his very last chemo only to find out that it started growing again after a year of no growth. And because of that he didn’t get to celebrate finishing treatment he went from doing chemo to starting a different treatment Of targeted therapy. He was supposed to have done targeted therapy for two years but a year into his new therapy it started to grow yet again. Now his doctor is reaching out outside to other places for treatment which is scary to think that he can no longer do anything for him. And surgery is no longer even an option sadly ,he explained its too risky And even if they did do the surgery by the time that we get to Texas he would be right back to where he is now so he would do it for nothing . His doctor gave us two options one was to go to Georgia for a different chemo and immunotherapy and the other option is in Texas at their children’s hospital for a new clinical trial. He’s been through so much in his short 13 years and is absolutely a strongest person I’ve ever known. But he is getting so tired of it he’s emotionally drained and scared, and so am I. The idea of going to Texas and not knowing how many times we’re gonna have to be there or for how long we have to be there and the expenses of all of it and the expenses of just living day to day there is why I came to the site I hate asking for help from anyone but I came here in hopes that someone could help ease those worries for us. Anthony deserves all things good! He never ever meets a stranger hes so funny and very considerate. He also has such a close relationship with God. He has been through more in 13 years then some people would go through their entire lives. If you can help we would be forever grateful. Not only for financial help but your prayers and thoughts towards him. Thank you all so much.
