To whoever see this and whoever this may concern, my name is Daven Waggoner and I’m currently 18. In a few short months I will graduate from high school and start my journey of the real world and life. My goal is to attend a community college for two years and transfer to a university to earn a bachelor’s in marine biology. This is my dream and I worry all the time about whether or not I’ll be able to afford college costs as college is extremely expensive today. I also worry about how I can afford a car to travel back and forth to college.
I moved in with my dad around two years ago and I love living with my dad and step mom and the rest of my family. The current household includes me, my dad, stepmom, stepsister, brother and my grandma; so a total of six. Both of my parents work paycheck to paycheck trying to make both myself and my stepsisters dreams a reality, but times are very difficult. Last year my grandpa passed away and that took a huge toll to our family.
The financial burden of college and every week expenses is interferes with the affordability of going to college. College costs these days are tremendous and have an every lasting affect on families but allow many younger people bigger opportunities in life to dream big and turn their dream into a reality.
