Please help me.
My name is Zuleika Hernandez and I am living a nightmare. I have tried every other possible avenue of assistance.
I’m a Puerto Rican entrepreneur who has been hit with hard times and malicious people. I had a business and worked at a legal firm That is until my boyfriend decided to destroy me. I am a victim but he has made it that everyone is attacking me and I have no legal rights. I am doing everything in my power to clean my life up this. There is so much wrong here. He put me in jail twice and in 43 years of life I’ve never been in trouble.
The first time while I was in jail because of him, my employees (also friend of 30 years) burglarized my home and ran my car into the ground while she ran my business but would not assist me in getting out. I recouped and started my business back up, even though I lost my day job with the legal firm, because of cut backs for COVID and how many days I missed as well.
The second time I went was on Christmas. He put bogus charges on me. I have never hit him, the opposite is the truth but I would just walk away. When I was arrested, he moved to my with his ex wife (while I was in jail for over 50 days all together) I was in jail over a month in which time charges thrown out. When I got home my place was maliciously destroyed. I’m dealing with the after math now.
He went to impound took my car out, stole all the things inside, stripped it of parts and totaled it. Then he took it back to the impound. When I got here I put my key in it kept unlocking and then it would feel like it locked again. I went around back and heard stuff up front. I came up to towards the front and the bathroom light was on. I went to the front to check the window again it opened right up. I get in and this place is annihilated like extremely bad, he urinated all over everything, fecal matter, blood everywhere and my things just, it was just malicious. I have been cleaning for days trying to salvage the little I have left.
My landlady stayed after I got home: “Your boyfriend has been living there.. He has been living there and he’s had some one living in the shed. I don’t know if you gave him a key or he’s been breaking in.“ She did call the police after of few weeks of him living in my apartment, but he had already stolen everything I had left and destroyed my home.
I called the cops to report the burglary and with in one sentence the police started yelling at me, called me a liar, said I gave him permission, he would not take a report, he would not look at the damage and he offered to take me back to jail. He said that my abuser is a good guy and he doesn’t deserve to be treated like this. He also said and don’t try to say he stole your car. ( this is when I learned he did something to my car )
All the while my mother had a stroke and my son was staying with her at the time. Mom lost her house and my son has moved in with a friend. I am losing my home as well. They land lady had hit me last year and hasn’t been very kind at all.
He is currently stalking me and sent word with a friend telling me he will run me over the minute he sees me. He is like clockwork about every hour 3 different vehicles. He left me no food and what he didn’t eat was left open so it’s spoiled. He made sure I have nothing to cook with as well. Just mean.
I was in a dv shelter when he put all these charges on me. I had my entire wardrobe that I saved from My abuser throwing it all out into the dirt by the street in front of his house. I got a call to them. They were short and said they can’t help me with legal. I asked them to please save my clothes. They said just call when I get out. I did they said they got rid of it. They are not offering to help reimburse me in any way.
According to the DV lawyers I can’t do anything legal to protect myself because they say I “waited” too long.
No one will help me. Everyone attacks me. I have been in jail since Christmas and everyone thinks I am an awful criminal. The only thing the DV shelter the spring and other organizations can offer me is shelter. At the least I need a storage unit to salvage the little I have left. I haven’t left my apartment since I got out. I’m scared for my life. I have no food. I have nothing left and my land lords threaten me often. That doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the loss I have had due to COVID.
This morning I got served an official eviction notice. I haven’t eaten in a few days.
Like I have said before I have tried every avenue of assistance before I tried this. The response I have been getting is : we can’t help then they tell me to call an organization that I have already tried. It’s very frustrating.

What I would do if I had the funding:
I would get stable housing in a place that hasn’t been stolen from. I would find a home that no one knew where I lived. I would buy a vehicle. I would start my business back up and get a storage unit. I would expand my business include a wider range of places to acquire items. I would buy a large piece of land and a tiny house from tumble weeds. They I would work with other women in my situation to get their own tiny house.
