We were sleeping at night when there was a rainstorm outside. We thought that considering our house is quite old but has been standing all these years including with tough storms, that nothing would happen to us. But the roof split open inwards and the walls started to crack when the rains were hitting. We’re not that fortunate of a family and we don’t come from a country with a decent economic situation. We live right next to our farm but our crops got damaged after the storm and we’re using what money we have left for buying food. All this, plus the strict lockdowns because of Covid and the drought in the area we live in adds to all the shortcomings that we can currently afford.
My father’s old and my mother’s ill. Neither of them can leave the house due to Covid 19, and so I am the only breadwinner of my family right now. I have a 6 year old little brother that I have to take care of and I’m just 19 years old, and still haven’t graduated high school. Online schooling has been harder nowadays because of all the technical issues and internet outages in our part of the country. We have no more money and we can’t afford to sleep anywhere else. Now we’re sleeping in a mosque not that far from where our house is. The Imam was nice enough to let us stay inside.
We don’t like to ask or beg because we know that hardship is not rare in this world but we’re truly out of options. I believe my family should receive a donation because at this point, it feels like we’ve lost everything and we actually have. I hope this gets somewhere since I’m not familiar with this site. I managed to make about 25 dollars in the past week begging on the streets but when I went to the repair office for home rebuilding, they said that it would cost 15,000 dollars to rebuild our home. And when I asked about buying a new place to stay, they said the costs are even higher. And when I asked about rent, they said there were no rented houses available.
I am not sure what other options we have but this is the only thing I can think of. The government’s aid is so scarce and we don’t have any other place to stay. Please help us!
