I could go back and describe the people we were and lives we lead 10 years, 5 years, 2 years even 1 year ago and prove the progress we have made in changing direction to get our lives on track and headed on a good self-sustaining path. Before we got together each of us dealt with our own hold backs and failures including loss/death of loved ones, homelessness, struggling with past and addictions, the discovery of a rare disease and what comes with it, divorce and then we found strength in each other. So we married (eloped) last year on Jan 11, 2018 in a restaurant and had every intention on having a wedding with family and friends once things straightened out financially. We dealt with many struggles along the way but both went back to school to build careers and lives for ourselves and our together 4 small children. As well as pursuing new treatment options in Tulsa for my Hereditary Paragangliomas-Pheochromocytoma Syndrome. These decisions as well as a few others lead to us uprooting our lives in Kansas and moving to Tulsa. Since moving to Tulsa, as many plans go, we were met with unexpected problems and complications nearing us to having to seek out shelters. We were able to find jobs and secure a home. Continued attending school. Shortly after we took a financial blow where my husband lost his job and I was forced to put in more hrs cutting into other areas. A loss in insurance taking away medical needs (such as incontinence care for my Autistic son as well as medicine for my pain, vertigo and tremors) just in time also for both of us to get quite sick. We were hit with more medical bills draining our pockets. As well as other small complications and bad luck. It was tough and a lot of times we fell short on bills and decisions had to be made on which bills we would pay and which ones would have to wait. In order to pay bills we went 3 months without beds or furniture. In order to have gas we went without food for us adults some meals. In order to get medicine and treatment we got a credit card and maxed it out ($300 limit). We had to give up visitation with our daughter in KS in order to pay child support instead. In order for utilities to be paid often times we watch our accounts hit negative (currently -$300). We have received some help from family along the way and to those that did help we were so very grateful. Here we are entering into the holidays and nearing the end of my (Jacinda) schooling and entering externship. We are SO close. My job just sent me the insurance packet and last week my husband found a new job that pays well. I just heard I will be receiving child support payments on a card being sent to me in the mail. Heard of a local food bank and coat drive (my daughter needs a coat) around the corner. Things were starting to look hopeful!
Last night I went to work and even agreed to stay later a third day in the row to pick up more hrs (holiday double pay was the real incentive). When I went on break however I found that my car was gone. I went in and asked my manager if there were cameras, there wasn’t, then called the police. I spoke with the police and they made a report. They mentioned the possibility it may have been repossessed, gave me a list of repo companies and said they would also keep lookout. In Sept I was 2 months behind however Sept 30 I made a car payment but was unable to make one in Oct. I called my lender and found that this is the reason why my car was repossessed and was unable to gain more information on how I could get my belongings (my purse containing my ID and bank cards, my children’s carseats, and our school books and bags) nor on how I could get my car back. Based on research I have been informed it will take the past due balance of $610 approx, full coverage insurance $250 approx, and $200-$400 repo fee to get it back. That’s $1,000-$1,500! We need our car to keep our jobs, continue schooling, get the kids to school, go to the store, go to the doctor etc!! I know getting the car back is imperative to our survival and success. We have goals to continue working towards careers, debt payoffs, and good credit to eventually either purchase or trade in for a vehicle that will fit our whole family but right now we need what we had to get there! Please help us get through this rut.
