Hi, my name is Sadie, and I’m not quite sure how to start this off. I’m a mother of 3 awesome kids, and a wife to a fantastic man. Our lives have been completely upended over the last 10-11 months.
I suppose the best place to start would be September of 2021. After living with my in laws for 8 years in the same home (I helped take care of my MIL while working from home), our landlord decided to take advantage of the housing market in our area and sell the home. We had 30 days to find somewhere to go, and the rentals in our area are outrageously priced, easily $1,800 plus for a shoe box. With having very little notice, my husband just starting out with DoorDashing at the time (he has two ruptured discs in his back, as well as bilateral abdominal surgery in May ’21 that recurred, so waiting on another surgery for that), we did not have money to move, and we did not have a down payment to buy. So as of now, we have moved in with my mother, but it is very cramped and not an ideal situation.
Then, on Valentine’s Day of this year, my husbands grandfather passed away from colon cancer, leaving the care of his wife and home, finances, etc. to my mother in law, who is in poor health herself. Less than a month later, her sister, husbands aunt, was murdered, 3/6/21, and on that very same day my father in law was diagnosed with stage 3A Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the lung. Since his diagnosis, he has had to start a very aggressive treatment, and has become unable to work. The biggest issue with that is that I worked for him, I ran his (very small) construction company, and with him not working, that put me out of work as of late. With my three kids starting school, still attempting to keep my father in laws business afloat (while not getting paid), keeping up with weekly therapies for my children (one is in speech therapy, the other is in talk therapy), constant doctors appointments for my eldest (he has a congenital heart disease and is looking at a third open heart surgery), and all the other daily things life throws in along the way, it has been very hard for me to find a job that will work with me schedule wise.
I’m sorry for droning on, I’m not very good at stuff like this. Basically, we are at risk of losing everything right now. My husband and I have worked so so hard to get where we were before all the chaos started, we really just need a little help to keep us above water. My biggest worry is our car, we only have one at the moment, and we are going on three months behind on payments. We have tried to work with the financer, but they will not budge or help in any way. If we could just get less than 30 days behind (in total around $1,600) that would at least give us a little wiggle room to figure out the third month, and everything else as well.
Thank you to anyone taking the time to even read through this mess, it means so much that you are even here at all, whether you help me and my family or another in need! <3
