I’ll try to keep this short and to the point. First off, I want to thank you for reading this! Last March a friend moved in with me. In September, they decided they did not want to drive so far (I live in the country) and decided to stay in the town they worked in instead. They tried to break their lease but the landlord wouldn’t let them. I had a roommate because as a single middle aged woman with a decent job, I just couldn’t make ends meet. Well, said roommate continued to pay their half of the rent only. No other bills. No electric, no garbage, no internet, no other bills. Because I was not receiving help, I ended up maxing out my credit cards and getting behind on bills. I was working my normal 40 hours a week plus filling in up to an extra 30 hours a week (60-70 hrs/wk) while I could at work but taxes took most of the extra and I still couldn’t keep up. I didn’t buy food, clothes, didn’t drive anywhere I didn’t have to. Then on April 10, my job ended and I wasn’t entitled to unemployment. I applied for assistance but was denied at every turn. I spent all my extra time looking for a job that would pay my bills. My electric was shut off on May 17. That means no water, no lights, no fridge. I’ve been hauling water from a friends house to wash my hair and “flush” my toilet. I just want to be able to cook again! I’m living off what food I can that doesn’t need to be cooked but a fresh glass of water would be wonderful! I do get to shower at a friends house about once or twice a week. Heaven!! I’ve also been working with a financial advisor since early November to help find ways to use money more wisely. If you wouldn’t mind helping a lady who just wants to try to make it on her own, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks again for reading my story!
